Quiet little campground perfect for an overnight stay on the coast. We stayed on a Sunday night, so it was probably quieter than usual, but we don’t have a problem with that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s a KOA Express, so it doesn’t have all the amenities of a full-size KOA campground, such as a pool, hot tub, game room etc., but there is a nice gift shop, laundry room, communal firepit and dog area. There are several antique shops near the campground, along with some nice restaurants and fruit stands. Other than that, it’s a pretty quiet little town, but perfectly positioned for a base of operations if your main destination is Monterey <\/a>and you don’t mind a 30 minute drive along the coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n About 2 minute walk up the road is the Whole Enchilada<\/a>, an excellent Mexican restaurant serving some very interesting and authentic food, as well as a full line up of various tequilas, if that’s your thing. It’s a dog-friendly restaurant too, which worked out perfectly for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The campground is an easy walk to the beach, but unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on the beach. That said, no one seemed to care – either about the dogs on the beach or the “no dog” signs, depending on your perspective…<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you’re driving up the coast and looking for somewhere quiet to stay, the Moss Landing KOA is a worth checking out.
