{"id":502,"date":"2026-05-16T13:21:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-16T20:21:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/openfirecamping.com\/?p=502"},"modified":"2026-05-18T11:09:43","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T18:09:43","slug":"fire-roasted-vegetable-sandwich","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/openfirecamping.com\/?p=502","title":{"rendered":"Fire Roasted Vegetable Sandwich"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Freeze dried food probably isn&#8217;t at the top of everyone&#8217;s gourmet cooking list, but it&#8217;s actually pretty decent in a pinch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mountain House Fire-Roasted Vegetable Blend<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Artisan White Bread<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Muenster Cheese (or vegan equivalent)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mayo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whole Grain Mustard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boil some water and rehydrate the vegetables according to the instructions. We used the same <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snowpeak.com\/products\/gigapower-stove-2-0-auto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Snow Peak GigaPower<\/a> camping stove, that we used in <a href=\"https:\/\/ak2ca.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alaska<\/a>, mostly because we still had fuel for it and we could cook outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"462\" src=\"https:\/\/openfirecamping.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/b4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-529\" srcset=\"https:\/\/openfirecamping.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/b4.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/openfirecamping.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/b4-300x139.jpg 300w, https:\/\/openfirecamping.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/b4-768x355.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toast the bread (with a toaster if you have one, otherwise just improvise with the above-mentioned stove),  and spread the mayo and mustard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the vegetables are fully rehydrated, add them to one piece of bread, top with cheese and the other slice of bread.
