A beautiful little winery nestled in a picturesque valley and surrounded with peacocks.
We actually rode our bikes here from the Avila KOA, which is about 2.6 miles away, along part of the very scenic Bob Jones Trail. The last part of the ride is uphill, which is no problem if you have an e-bike like my wife, but I’m not going to lie – it was hard work keeping up with her on my unassisted mountain bike! So naturally, she arrived at the winery fresh as a daisy, while I looked… not so fresh.
Fortunately, the wine garden had some very nice shaded tables, surrounded by a backdrop of trees and a vegetable garden. And as mentioned above, plenty of peacocks strutting about the grounds.
The service was great, the wines were really good and the scenery and atmosphere were very relaxing. We ended up buying 6 bottles, which was about as much as we could carry back on our bikes – otherwise we would probably have bought more! They also have cider and apple-infused wine as well, which was interesting but not really our style.
Overall, a very nice experience, with some great wines, and if you’re up for it, only a short bike ride from the Avilla KOA campground. Definitely worth a stop if you’re visiting Avila for the weekend.
